Higher Education Advisory Committee
The Higher Education Advisory Committee was created as a result of the Virginia Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2011,” the “Top Jobs Act,” or “TJ21.” This is landmark legislation adopted unanimously by the 2011 General Assembly recognizes the excellence and diversity of the existing higher education system in Virginia. It builds on past reforms and innovations and it brings into sharp focus the relationship between the Virginia higher education system, our state’s economy, and job creation. The Advisory Committee has representation from both policymaking branches of state government; higher education institutions; the State Council and the business community, which has been such an important partner in these efforts.
