Governor McAuliffe and Secretary Anne Holton’s Statements on the Passing of Dr. William C. Bosher, Jr.
Governor Terry McAuliffe and Secretary of Education Anne Holton released the following statements on the passing of Dr. William C. Bosher, Jr., former Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction and longtime Virginia educator:
"From his first teaching job in 1968 through his tenure as the state superintendent of public instruction, superintendent of Henrico and Chesterfield County Schools, a dean, and finally a highly-regarded VCU Professor, Dr. Bosher remained a prominent and influential voice for students, teachers and schools,” stated Governor McAuliffe. “His warmth, dedication and legacy will inspire Virginia educators for generations to come."
Secretary of Education Anne Holton added, "Bill Bosher was a wonderful public-servant and a wonderful man. Throughout his long and varied career, Dr. Bosher's goal remained the same: to improve education for every child in every corner of the Commonwealth. Today, Virginia has lost a beloved professor, a tireless advocate, and an extraordinary educator. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and students during this difficult time."
